The 7.9 Richter scale earthquake in the waters off Southern Sumatra, near Padang, on 30 September 2009, resulted in 234 buildings in Singapore experiencing tremors. The affected buildings are mainly located in the central, northern, and western parts of Singapore comprising - 187 HDB buildings, 16 Private Residential Buildings and 31 Commercial Buildings.

The Police and SCDF received more that 150 calls form the public. There were no reported cases of injuries nor damage to buildings.
